Do you service normal bikes?
Yes we can service all and any bike or e-bike.
How much does it cost?
It depends on what level of service you want. Please see the servicing page.
Can you repair my electric bike?
Yes we carry out all manner of repairs especially battery or electrical repair.
Can you test my battery?
Yes we have a machine to test batteries from electric bikes. Note we need to test over a 48 hour time period.
Can you re-cell my battery?
Yes but we only use a recognised brand like Panasonic or Samsung. It’s not worth using cheaper cells.
Are the mechanics qualified?
Yes we are Cytec trained but have also done Bosch and Shimano courses.
Maintenance of My E-Bike
How do I maintain my ebike?
Maintenance of an e-bicycle is exactly the same as a conventional pedal bike. A service once a year is recommended. The UK Electric Bike Centre can service most bikes as long as we can get spares.
How much does it cost to recharge my battery?
Based on current electricity costs, it will cost 3–5p (approx) for a full charge.
How do I know when I need to recharge the battery, and how long will it take to charge?
Most ebikes will have a battery level indicator which clearly shows when recharging is required. 4–6 hours will fully charge a virtually empty battery through any mains outlet. We advise that you charge your battery every fortnight even when not using it.
Do you have any battery maintenance advice?
Battery Care Tips
— Batteries hate the cold, so during the winter or cold spells keep the battery indoors and charge for an hour or so once per month.
— Always charge your battery in a safe space. We recommend using a timer so the battery isn’t over or under charged.
— Keep the battery topped up and don’t drain completely — and certainly don’t leave without charge.
Do I need to check the tyre pressure?
We advise you check the tyre pressures before you go out and ride and keep the tyres pumped to the correct pressure (it will say on the tyre). If you don’t, it may affect the distance you will travel.
How long is the battery life?
No battery can last a lifetime. However, the lifespan of any battery will vary according to how much it is used. Most reputable brands give a guarantee of 2 years, however some may carry only 1 year so please check.
